The results of the fruitful cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
From 19 March to 2 April 2011 a team of the internationally well known Russian TV channel “My Planet” led by the famous traveler and author of the TV program “My Planet” came to Tajikistan. Their visit was initiated by the Committee of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and fully supported by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The creative group of the Russian TV channel acquainted themselves with the history, culture and way of Tajik life, the rich and unique nature of the country, with museums, national parks and traditional markets. Ponkratov and his colleagues visited the impressive Varzob Gorge, the famous Nurek Dam and Nurek Hydro-Electric Power Station, attractions in Dangara (Hurramshahr) and Vose District (Hulbuk and Khoja Mumin) and many more places of interest.
All those sights will be featured in the 30-minute-films the team shot in Tajikistan.
In the frame of their visit, the guests also participated in the international celebration of Navruz (the Tajik New Year) and studied the traditions and customs of the people and even attended a Gushtingiri competition (national wrestling) and horse racing.
They also interviewed the world champion in hammer throwing, Dilshod Nazarov, the winner of the 2008 Olympic Game in judo, Rasul Bokiev, the winner of the Republican Recitation Contest of the Holy Qur’an, Karomatullo Tayfurov and the leader of the world known pop group “Shams”, Nobovar Chanorov.
According to Ponkratov the films will be broadcasted in May 2011 on three TV channels, “My Planet”, “Russia-24” and “Russia-2” which can be watched in all of the CIS countries and another 20 countries with an audience of more than 500 million people.
